Before I even begin writing, let me assert up front this will be a difficult and, at times, nasty subject. Not because of any failure of the Lord, obviously, nor because of any deceit from the author, but because getting to there from here will require actions that will offend, run contrary to current laws, and require far greater will than has been exercised in some time. The alternative is surrender unto the madness which is apparent for any brave enough to believe their own eyes. I also do not claim my thoughts here to be anything other than introductory or expository on a subject far broader than any one essay.
Christ Nationalism is a better term than Christian Nationalism for one simple yet vital reason: It reminds us all our job is to serve Christ, and to follow His Instructions, which reduce to love the Father with all your heart giving Him your service, and to love your neighbors as you do yourself. (Matthew 22:36-40) For someone less familiar with the Bible than a believer who reads Scripture daily, this could sound like some opaque promise of love without judgment, but when you read how our savior told his own followers to “bring a sword”, “shake the dust of their shoes and leave those who won’t listen”, “find brothers and sisters in belief”, and that “few would find the way”, perhaps a closer examination of Scripture, which I’m quickly paraphrasing here but will cite if required in exhaustive detail for the literal minded, you realize what Christ promised was not a broad path through the world, but a narrow path for the believer to overcome such.
We understand, who believe, Christ is that path, through first his sacrifice through which our redemption by grace would be impossible, through which the Holy Spirit became available to us, and through which our reconciliation with the Father is realized in the person of the Lamb. We therefore should also understand, as Christ warned it would be, that we would be hated by the world, that our ways would not be their ways, and that our defining requirement in this world is not how liked or how successful we are, but rather how the Father sees our service and how the Son serves as intercessor as we seek the Holy Spirit to guide us within. In none of that basic Christian model, shared by all denominations who profess the Nicene Creed, is there any concern for humanist ethics, transhumanist technology, woke agendas, ideological speculation, or any of the myriad big and dumb ideas upon which we factionalize, and which at heart are as dead and dumb as any other idea humanity launches.
Christ is different. He is the living root without which we die, and as such, when we seek a nation honoring Him, it is foolish and vain to place ourselves as believers in the primary position, especially given the sheer apostasy rampant in Western Christianity, but instead we must to succeed both offer our service to the Lord, and put His ideals above our own as guide and prayer for deliverance from our own Babylon which our long indifference nurtured. We must believe and ask Him for support, and we must begin our organization not looking to win some cheap election, but to build structures, institutions, and communities that honor him, uphold one another, and who have the force of will and staying power to hold their churches against the unending incursion of the state and its myriad allies.
Two quick conclusions must follow if this is correct.
Christ Nationalism must be focused on Christ before Christians
Being focused on Christ before Christians, the correct organizational structure must be rooted in the Church, recognizing the primacy of natural law as divine law versus the apostasy and idolatry of secular law of all nations.
The latter point can be well understood in history with a quick review of what Luther’s 95 Theses caused in Europe, and the famous Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates that emerged from the small German margraviate of Magdeburg. They said that when the State and the Church (which would have been the Holy Roman Emperor and the then universal Roman Catholic Church) violated Scripture, the existing authority structure was anathema to God, and therefore it became the duty of the belivers to resist them under the support of whatever magistrate, or person of the law, who could found to resist. Against all odds by the accounting of men, but with the sanction of the divine, they held against heavy forces against them, and the vitality of Pentacost found some liberation from the simony of Rome. Our Founders knew this example well, but it has rarely been taught to the American audience.
Watching the debt ceiling capitulation while conservative luminaries like Ted Cruz rage about how gays are treated in Uganda should make clear there is no national political solution. Some look to states, hopefully, for something better, but given the corruption in Texas and watching Meatball Ron go kiss the Wailing Wall, I’m thinking you might not want to place too much hope there. In desperation people do, but this very despair is an act of bad faith, because we, having been habituated to finding and achieving what we want, don’t know how to ask God for help. Sure, we might launch a prayer in a low odds crisis, but how many ask each day for guidance, seek His counsel in all things, and follow His Word.
The one encouraging thing I can share, although anecdotal, is a growing number, and some smart people are thinking on this question. While I think the forays into ethnonationalism have popularized the inescapable reality higher number of minorities equals more crime, less social cohesion, and a more challenging situation for the future, what they equally revealed is the founding stock of America, European born, will not simply accept an identity they did not choose upon which to unite. Some have gone down the Pagan trail, but find themselves drawn into the natural mysticism that saw them overrun the first time, as their smaller and more accessible gods, idols in fact, offer nothing but cold comfort for a lost home. Instead, wiser folk are looking to the Lord for deliverance, believing that our faith in Him will not be misplaced should we repent, ask mercy for us, but then most importantly, stop compromising and stand on His Word.
None of our churches do this. All we have are forty flavors of apologist for bad doctrine theologically, surrenderism culturally, and the displacement of justice with mercy without consequence that is not a Biblical doctrine. God does not sanction usury. God does not sanction sodomy. God does not sanction false pride. God does not sanction harlotry. We ask God to defend our vices, not seeing our own degradation as the means by which we are held hostage, beamed directly and incessantly into our minds’ eyes for a century now through home and portable units. We are blind to this world around us because we are captive to desire, and we do not know how to ask for deliverance because we have forgotten how severe the need is.
This then becomes a great mission. To reach our brothers and sisters who are lost in the miasma, and awaken them to a better choice. Those who listen and adhere are those we welcome and celebrate, and those who wish to apologize for or live in the grievances of the world get left behind. We grow by taking nourishment for the Word, not apologizing but proclaiming truth, and removing obstacles in our way to where our people come to reside. Politics has only ever been a popularity contest, so where we grow, we will stand strong, and how we will grow is to cast out poison from our midst.
Diversity gives way to unity in purpose. Multiculturalism pulls back to a culture rooted in timeless truth. Inclusion only matters if will is placed toward proper service. Equity comes in service, not in material possessions or special distinction. Humility guides us, not some false belief we are great when our politicians lie, our corporations rob, and the system rewards cheating and celebrates sinfulness. We still have mercy for the broken and repentant, who seek restoration, but for the indignant and popular, let them return to dust quickly.
A better church is needed. The contours should shape this discussion, but it should be rooted in the Word of God, not the traditions that run contrary to the teachings of Christ. It must learn to be as comfortable with the exoteric, manifest prohibitions of the Word of God, as the esoteric mystery of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit within every Bible believer that promises miracles are not beyond us in shared faith, and which seeks in this time to keep, find, and grow the Lord’s people to survive, and to share His Will that none may yet be lost.
This will not be for everyone, and there will be those outside such a church who we might help, and whose success we would celebrate, but who would still not be the core of what is required. Times of tribulation require men and women of great faith to fulfill the biblical offices to which we are assigned. But we must embrace being this peculiar nation, try to do what we can while still here with the citizenship in heaven Christ says we must now seek, and to stand against the Dragon, the Harlot, and all those dangers until our duty is done and our home reconsecrated.
No apologies, no surrenders, no excuses. We find each other, and we kick the world out, for where two or more are gathered in His Holy Name, we should stop believing the long religion of objectivist empiricist quantum denying science, and instead return in faith to our first love and move those mountains. Christ Nationalism: For Him, because we have demonstrated amply we don’t know how to do this ourselves.
